This collection consists of ten volumes of memorada and commonplace books of William Brent, Jr., of Stafford County, Virginia. The volumes include a memorandum book given to his wife Winifred which includes a description of slaves, a record of plantation repairs, accounts of livestock slaughtered, observations on his children, and conments on political and religious matters. The commonplace books include notes and clippings of political events in the United States of South America, Brent family patents, and legal notes. There are numerous comments on the political system. There is a commonplace book of Arthur Lee Brent containing poetry and a record of historical persons and events.
